ReadLoud Terms of Use

Last updated: 5 September 2026

1. Who we are and what these terms cover

These terms are an agreement between you and Red Star Labs ("we", "us") and cover your use of the ReadLoud app on iOS and the web. By using ReadLoud you accept them. If you don't accept them, don't use the app.

Red Star Labs' general terms of service cover our client work and don't apply here; ReadLoud's privacy policy explains what happens to your data.

2. What ReadLoud is

ReadLoud reads your documents aloud and helps you study them. You may open and listen to three distinct imported documents free, including the study tools available for those readings. Reopening the same document does not use another free reading. ReadLoud Plus unlocks additional readings and the full feature set on iOS and the web.

3. ReadLoud Plus (auto-renewing subscription)

4. Refunds

For an iOS purchase, refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. For a web purchase made through Stripe, contact Red Star Labs. Any refund is subject to applicable law and the circumstances of the request.

5. Fair use of the AI features

The study features exist for personal study of your own documents. Don't use them to break the law, infringe others' rights, abuse or overload our servers, or attempt to extract or misuse the underlying AI service. We may apply reasonable usage limits to keep the service available for everyone, and we may suspend access that we reasonably believe is abusive.

6. Your content

Your documents are yours. You're responsible for having the right to use what you import — for example, course materials you're entitled to study from. We claim no ownership over your content. As the privacy policy explains, our server does not persist study submissions, while our AI service provider applies its disclosed API retention policy.

7. AI output

Summaries, answers, flashcards, extracted text, and references are generated by AI and can be wrong, incomplete, or out of date. They are study aids, not a substitute for the source material — check anything that matters against the original before you rely on it, especially citations.

8. What we promise, and what we don't

We work to keep ReadLoud available and working well, but the app and its features are provided "as is". We don't guarantee uninterrupted availability of the AI features, which depend on third-party services. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that can't be excluded under law (including for death or personal injury caused by negligence), but beyond that our total liability to you is limited to the subscription fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

Your statutory rights as a consumer — including under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 if you're in the UK — are not affected by these terms.

9. Changes to the app or these terms

We may improve, change, or discontinue features over time. If we make material changes to these terms or to what Plus includes, we'll update this page and flag it in the app's update notes. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept it; if you don't, cancel your subscription as described above.

10. Apple

These terms are between you and Red Star Labs, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide support for ReadLoud and isn't responsible for the app, but Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. Where our own terms are silent, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies to your use of the app.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales — except that if you live elsewhere, you keep the benefit of any mandatory consumer protections of your home country.

12. Contact

Questions about these terms or your subscription: redstarlabs777@hotmail.com.

In plain English: your first three distinct imported documents are free, including their study tools. After that, ReadLoud Plus unlocks unlimited readings and all features for $17.99 USD/month on the web; iOS shows Apple's localized price. It renews until you cancel, and access continues through the paid period. The AI can be wrong, so check its work.
